Our Company Overview

We leverage our scale to create innovative and tailored solutions that help our customers optimize their supply chains to stay ahead of their competition in a market that changes every single day.

Our technical expertise ensures efficient movement of goods whilst meeting customer requirements. BRCGS Agent and Broker (AA) since 2015, MSC accredited for seafood since 2020, and HACCP training for all staff, promotes food safety and authenticity. We attained AEO accreditation post-Brexit, smoothing import processes, and we only work with trusted partners, thereby minimising delays.

Independent and family-owned for over 25 years, we were established in Herefordshire by Hugh Shallcross, who saw a gap in the market for importing sandwich ingredients in the early 90s. A few years later, Hugh was joined by his wife, Sue, and subsequently their daughter, Kate in 2008. Sadly, Hugh passed away in 2014 and Sue has been enjoying her retirement since 2023.  Now based in the beautiful Cotswolds, the Company continues to be led by Kate, who endeavours to bring the same integrity and sunny attitude to the office each day as her parents did.

Our employees are our most valuable asset, some of whom have been with us since the business began. As a Company we support flexible and home working, promoting a healthy personal-professional life balance. We value training and career progression for all employees. In 2024, we began measuring our carbon footprint and are setting measurable targets to reduce emissions. As a responsible importer, we're optimizing our supply chain and making long-term, socially responsible choices, to plan the movement of goods as efficiently as possible. Now that we have begun this process, we are committed to improving where and how we can, and to applying pressure on those in our supply chain to do the same.

Working at Henryson Foods is a career, not a short-term step. Our staff are committed to the business, and we are a close-knit team. Between us, we have over 125 years’ experience in the food industry!!  Some of us have even worked as head chefs and patisserie bakers, though not all of us are good at cooking!
