Who We Are

Henryson Foods International Ltd. is a leading importer and distributor of specialist ambient, chilled and frozen food items from Europe into the UK and Ireland.

We pride ourselves on the long lasting relationships as a food service distributor we have with both our suppliers, some of whom we have worked with for over 20 years. Our wide customer base ranging from manufacturers, wholesalers and caterers to artisan bakers.

Our wealth of experience in the food service industry has given us the expertise to provide suppliers with accurate sales forecasts and budgets in this dynamic market. It is for this reason that our selected European partners trust us in managing their customer base in the UK and Ireland, and this includes everything from contract negotiations to day to day business.

At Henryson Foods, keeping customers abreast of ongoing and future market trends is vital and achieved by maintaining regular contact with buyers and managers, providing information and advice to try and minimise the risk of unforeseen price fluctuations.

History

HFI was established in 2000 by husband and wife, Hugh and Sue Shallcross. After building up 40 years of experience in the FMCG sector working for large multinationals, Hugh decided it was time for a new challenge, having identified a gap in the market for European producers wanting to export to the UK but lacking knowledge of the local market.  It was agreed from the beginning that Sue would handle the financial side of the business and Hugh the commercial side, this proved to be a winning formula.  Initially focusing on processed egg products for the sandwich and bakery industries the business has since grown to incorporate poultry, seafood and cooked meats meaning that we are now a well-known supplier of key ingredients to manufacturers and caterers throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.

We currently have 6 employees and the business continues to be managed by Sue and Kate (Hugh and Sue’s daughter), who joined the company in 2007.  Sadly, Hugh passed away in 2014 but his exuberance, positive attitude and sense of humour have left an indelible mark on our business and the way in which we like to do business, always striving to improve our services whilst never losing sight of the truly important things in life.
